2010-05-08 - Six-Pack Spring Tournament
Twelve teams from all across Scotland took part and Superhands were pleased to be able to register 2 teams in (Left and Right). It was a very positive day for both with the Left Team finishing 2nd in their group and therefore qualifying for the cup semi finals (lost to NZ Babas) while the Right Team won the bowl competition.
The day started out drizzly and cold in true Edinburgh fashion but the sun shone down as soon as the SuperHands teams got on the Peffermill pitches....
SuperHands Right captained by Dave ‘the Don’ Bartlett started out with a roaring success in their first match. This set the tone for the rest of the day, with only a minor hiccup in the middle with losses against Galaxy (fair enough) and The Glasgow Lions (utter devastation – in true Victor Meldrew fashion, the Don’s words were “I don’t BELIEEEVE it”). Despite this crushing loss and two team injuries which left only three women on the pitch, SuperHand Right powered through to an almighty victory in the bowl competition, with the star of the show being touch veteran Stuart with three tries. The reward for all this hard work??? A box of celebrations and copious red wine shots!
SuperHands Left enjoyed one of their most successful tournaments to date, winning all but one of their group games, which left them joint second of the group and earned them a place in the semi final of the Cup. Highlights included a win against a very apt Gecko’s team and a strong 8 – 0 win against Fingers. Unfortunately the SuperHands Left could not continue this form into their semi final and the day ended with defeat to the NZ Ba Ba’s. MVP of the day went to Pierre, who particularly impressed in the win over the Gecko’s.
Despite an exhausting day, Superhands showed the rest of the 6 pack teams what they were made of by busting moves on the dance floor until the early hours, Strictly Come Dancing here we come - what a great day (and night)!
