SuperHands Training

Open training / Social games

Several Superhands players are regulars all year round for the social games in the meadows on sundays from 2:00 (see map below). These are not official training sessions but the more experienced players will always be happy to share advice and teach you the things they've learned. Should you want to, a training session could easily be organised, before or after the social games. Don't be shy, just ask.

Superhands squad training

Superhands successes in the 1st year is largely due to their commitment to training started in winter 08. Our new winter training is about to start and we may be interested in recruiting new players. Should you be interested, come along and meet us in one of the social game at the meadows and we will let you know if it is possible to join.

Misc training videos

A few videos were created to try and explain some of the 1st things a touch team is taught. The quality is decent enough if you read them in high quality and full screen:

- Presentation of "3s"

- How to set "3s" up

- Positioning in defense

Some "fundamentals" of the game

PLAYERS POSITIONS

- 2 players in the middle are called mids
- 2 players on the wings are called wingers
- 2 players in between the above two are the links
- in attack, wingers should be on their wing

DRIVING

- organising "threes" about 5 m away from the touch line and, most importantly, getting all the successive touch 5m away from the touch line. Driving should NOT drift towards the middle of the pitch and eat up all the space of your buddies

- runner is coming at pace

- dummy half pops a gentle pass

- communication

- runner always comes on the open side (on the left hand side when you're driving along the right hand side line, or the opposite)

- we'll try and get the link to go and put that ball down in front of his winger, close to the touch line and set threes up from there

GENERAL PLAY

- try and take touches in between two opposite players to commit both of them and also get close to one of your team mate who will then be quicker at getting the ball and maintain the momentum

- communication is key

- trust each other

- keep your head up and react to what's in front of you
