- Summary
A sunny October day saw us lining up against the Lions in Edinburgh for the inaugural Bahookie Touch Challenge (Rob LeeT).
Game 1: 7 - 2 to Superhands
The Lions lose possession and Superhands waste no time curving the ball up the field, leading to a score by Rob in the first few minutes of the match. The Lions draw even but Superhands go back into the lead with a great score from Pierre off slider. A well timed pass from Jenny to Pierre leads to the 4th score of the match.
The Lions score for a second time and try for a third, but thanks to Dave organising a united defence and good driving from Jo, we get the ball back into our scoring half. Doug makes his first score of the match after lovely switch by Lesley Anne. A great sequence of passing between Dave and Eleanor, then on to Colin, leads to the next score.
The girls are delighted to be joined on the field by Captain 'superspeedy' Ali who sees off a number of determined challenges in defence . Colin scores again then Pierre outruns the opposition to get the last score of the first game.
Game 2: 5 - 1 to Superhands
Rob wraps Pierre to make the first score of the second game, swiftly followed by a break away run the length of the pitch by Dunkan (the granddaddy of the team?!). Some good defensive work by Superhands sees the ball back up in our scoring half and Rob gets the next two scores. Dunkan sends Rob flying (there has to be a 'Bahookie' joke in there somewhere...) but Superhands keep possession and a switch followed by a dump and split leads to the next score by Pierre. Lesley Anne makes sure the Lions don't break through Superhands' defence and the team drives the ball back up the field leading to a score by Colin.
Game 3: 4 - 4 draw
The third game sees Superhands putting into practice a number of new moves including rooster, which leads to a great score by Doug. Great defensive and attacking work from the whole team throughout.
Superhands MVP: Jo
Lions MVP:
A very successful day followed by a fantastic night out with the Lions.
Thanks to Rob LeeT for organising such a great event.
Thanks to the Lions for coming through and making the day (and night) such a success - we look forward to next year!
And finally, MASSIVE thanks to Janette for filming the whole tournie (and watching it all on that tiny screen).
