In its 1st year as an official Club, Superhands entered the prestigious Edinburgh Touch Superleagues with 4 teams (mixed experienced, mixed intermediate, womens, mens). Competing against the best sides in Scotland was certainly a challenge but all teams did better than hoped. Here are a few words from each one of them.

Mixed Experienced:

Superhands Mixed Advanced team's first season in the Edinburgh Touch Superleague was always going to be a challenge against opposition that included some of the best teams in Scotland such as Meerkats, Six-Pack and United Nations.

The highlights early on were two wins against the more established Go Commando (3-2 & 6-3). As the season progressed, despite some heavy defeats, our defence became more effective and so too did our ability to score and this was reflected in a close 4-5 loss to Six-Pack Stingers. In the final weeks Superhands focused on getting the details right in attack and reducing the number of unforced errors and this effort was rewarded with a thrilling 6-5 win against Six-Pack Stingers - truly a result and a first ETS season to be proud of!

Thanks to Freshy (Vice-captain), Ali, Janette, Jenny, Jo, Lesley-Anne, Ruth, Doogie, Doug (Captain), Olivier, Pierre, Rob, Steve and Trevor for all their commitment and hard work.

Mixed Intermediate:

It was a hard first season for the Intermediate Mixed Team with us finishing third out of four in the league but only 4 points behind the league winners. There were a lot of positives to be taken from the season, with much of the team experiencing the intensity of ETS for the first time. Next year, the title.

Mens:

Thanks to all who played in Superhands Mens team this season. The mens ETS was without doubt the fastest and toughest competition Scottish Touch can offer, and despite finishing in the bottom half of the table we competed in every game. I hope all our men will join me next season as we continue our development at the top level.

Womens:

Superhands Women’s Team were always going to be the underdogs in their first Edinburgh Touch

Superleague especially being up against three teams made up of some of the best players in Scotland. Despite this, the ladies went from strength to strength each week, even securing some draws and wins to give them points on the board and proving themselves as a force to be reckoned with!

Using this first season as a learning curve and a stepping stone into next year, Superhands Women’s Team did the club proud and are looking forward to what will be a triumphant season in 2011.

Thanks to all the girls who played and side line support from the boys!
